      They don't teach tones and expect the learner to recognize and imitate them naturally, which takes time even with proper training. Useless.

      I think this is a useful tool for someone who has already studied the foundations Chinese. It moves along at a good pace and reviews material. Alternatively, if you have a naturally excellent ear and can just pick up the tones, it might work. But you would probably want to work just on the tones for a couple of weeks, and then start this course afterwards.
