Descrizione

City girl Calla Fletcher attempts to reconnect with her estranged father, and unwittingly finds herself torn between her desire to return to the bustle of Toronto and a budding relationship with a rugged Alaskan pilot in this masterful new romance from acclaimed author K.A. Tucker.

Calla Fletcher was two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla's father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when her father reaches out to inform her that his days are numbered, Calla knows that it's time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can't help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this new subarctic environment, Jonah—the quiet, brooding, and proud Alaskan pilot who keeps her father's charter plane company operational—can't imagine calling anywhere else home. And he's clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she's too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. As time passes, she unexpectedly finds herself forming a bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it's replaced by friendship-or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago.

It's a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

Great book!! Could not stop listen to it!
  • (3/5)
Just ok. The writing- lots of holes in the story, transitions were clunky and confusing. The overall story was a good one and I enjoyed the narration.

Loved this book so much. I hope there is a sequel!

Wow, this is beautiful and heart-tugging. And makes me want to go to Alaska.
  • (4/5)
The relationship between the father and the daughter is amazing! Love that a lot

The characters felt so real. I felt like I was there in Alaska. My only gripe is that I want more of Calla and Jonah. They were everything.

Best book I’ve heard in so long! Prob now my favourite book. Good balance of chick lit, drama and just an all round great novel. Only slight downside is with narration sometimes you can’t tell what the characters are supposed to be thinking Vs saying. In saying that the actual narration is great. Loved this book 10/10

I loved the setting of Alaska, the romance was sweet, and the story of Calla getting to know her father again when it matter most really pulled at the heart strings! Really loved this book!

Five stars is not nearly enough to give this book. By far, the best book I think I have ever read. I laughed, cried, and hit every emotion in between. This is the way a book is supposed to make you feel. Thank you K.A. Tucker, and please write a sequel!!!

I've heard many people say this was their favorite KA Tucker book yet, and I was skeptical. I'm happy to report THE SIMPLE WILD is fantastic and you should go buy it right now. Like seriously, just click the button already. Okay? Okay. Glad we're on the same page.

Calla goes to Alaska to try and reconnect with her father after she gets some upsetting news. She has always preferred the city life, and isn't sure what she will find in a town where there is barely a grocery store and internet is a hot commodity. Jonah has always loved being a pilot, and came back to Alaska because it's where he truly calls home. Calla never intended to fall for the bush pilot, and Jonah certainly isn't looking for love, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants.

I really enjoyed this story. Not only is it sweet and sexy, but it also brings up a compelling thought. Would I be okay living in a town where only the people mattered and not the things? Could I be okay with no make up, no TV, and no fast food? I'd like to think I'm not that entitled or spoiled, but this book really made me consider it. I wasn't expecting a feel good romance novel to make me think, but there you go; it sure did.

I really enjoyed how Tucker took her time developing all the relationships and showing the beauty of Alaska. My only complaint was the somewhat abrupt ending. I knew the characters would get their HEA, but I just felt like a lot of details and questions were left hanging. Sequel perhaps?

Overall, I loved this book. I was able to listen on audio, and I found the narration really good. She had a great voice for Calla, and did a very good job with the male characters as well. Okay, well, why are you still reading this review? Go buy it already!

Couldn’t stop listening to it. Love/hate trope with substance. Really good!

    3.75 stars

Enjoyable book, but i felt like this was more woman's fiction than romance.

A re-read/listenn for me- really enjoyed the story- great characters, development and an adventurous Alaskan setting. Very good narrator, will look for more of her work.

Really a 3.75 for me. I must not have been paying attention when I was looking up the synopsis, because I don’t remember it mentioning the bit about her dad, just that she went to reconnect. I was expecting just a normal romance novel and got my heart ripped out instead! Still really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book! I would totally recommend it.
  • (5/5)
Great book! Worth the read. It really showed the importance of forgiving family
  • (5/5)
It's been a long time since I've been so attached to characters. I can't remember the last time I wished for a sequel!
  • (4/5)
For a YA novel, this was fun and captivating and not a fairy tale, which I love. Looking forward to the follow-up.
  • (5/5)
This one is going into my top 5 favorite books of all time! I felt such an amazing connection to all of these characters and the entire storyline. I just couldn’t put this book down it sucked me in right away and didn’t let me go the entire time!
  • (5/5)
I love the relationships that grow and flourish in this book!
  • (5/5)
Very good book. Could not stop listening. Romantic parts needs more spicing though..?
  • (5/5)
I loved Calla's story. This book is perfection. Can't wait for the sequel!
  • (5/5)
Ugh, I just loved this. This was everything I needed ?
  • (5/5)
I loved everything; down to the the tacky mallard duck wallpaper.
Jonah and Calla had a heated animosity between them and it made for hilarious banter and chemistry that jumped off the page. The pacing was perfect. The connections she was able to make with her family and dad was beautiful. The characters were multifaceted with great development. The setting was so easy to imagine. The romance was never forced or unbelievable.. I smiled. I laughed. I cried when it was over. I am SO relieved there's a sequel to this because I need more of these two in my life.
