Descrizione

In her highly-anticipated debut audiobook, Adrienne Young brings to life a lush, vivid world that will enchant listeners everywhere. Sky in the Deep is mythic in scope and speaks straight to the heart.

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient, rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: train to fight and fight to survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield—her brother, fighting with the enemy—the brother she watched die five years ago.

Eelyn loses her focus and is captured. Now, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan settling in the valley, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family.

She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother's friend. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family to find a way to forgive her brother while daring to put her faith in the people she's spent her life hating.

  • "Set in a Viking-inspired 'Sky in the Deep' follows a fierce female warrior as she discovers a family member long thought dead, suffers enslavement and torture far from home, and learns to empathize with a clan she's so far known to be her enemy. I fell in love with this novel with each page; I just wanted more! Strongly recommend for fans of epic fight scenes, coming-of-age stories, and a touch of Romeo-and-Juliet romance." — Danielle

Oh, my heart! I absolutely love this book! It has easily become one of my favorites of 2018. Adrienne is such a phenomenal writer, stitching words together that tugged on all of heart strings. I could feel her empathy and love for all her characters, there were none that were left dry and one-dimensional. Each had their own purpose and light. Eelyn’s journey filled the pages with equal amounts of action, sadness, and love. I did not feel empty or finding myself asking questions when I finished. I highly recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed!

This was an amazing dark gruesome story with Vikings and fighting and war mixed with a bit of love and family reuniting. Absolutely love it.

A cute story that is very inspiring to you g women

I enjoyed seeing the old prejudices collapse as the main character realizes her hatred ignored the shared humanity with those she had grown up wanting to kill. That’s the essence of this book.

There was plenty of brutality in the fight scenes, but the author recognized the feelings of shock and grief. At times it seemed killing was a routine to these clans, so their evolution seemed very rapid, but it was fun to read just the same.

I loved this book, it satisfied my Viking craving ???

Action, Vikings and Romance! I highly recommend this book and actually purchased the hard copy of it half way through listening to the audio book. It was a great YA read and no cheesy love triangle (like so many of the YA stories) I really liked the characters and look forward more works by this author.

I'm so glad I selected this book at random. After listening to Sky in the Deep I've listened to more Adrienne Young and she's just my favorite. Her stories are captivating, entertaining, and they always leave you wanting more. She also inserts emotion and feeling in such a subtle way that I appreciate so much. I got teary-eyed frequently through Sky in the Deep, including right up front. The best part is that it was in a refreshing, resonating way where I was feeling emotions along with the characters. Not necessarily because of a gut-wrenching event or because the character or story was sad... but just naturally when the characters were reflecting on their own feelings, growth, and experiences as a person. I'm not sure any other book has had me crying so comfortably throughout. Aside from all of that, the storyline is excellent and I love the character development and interactions, in general. All-in-all, anything Ms. Young puts out will be on my future reading lists. I'm working on The Girl the Sea Gave Back, right now, and I'm fervently anticipating the release of the sequel to Fable (which I've read, also.) Keep 'em coming, Adrienne. I'm a fan.

I made a mistake and listened to the second book first, but I still loved getting to hear the back story of these people! The world is rich and vivid. The fight sequences are well thought out and they aren't full of smut! Wonderful books!!

Strong writing skills, but poorly developed story. The scenes were richly described and the emotions of the characters were realistic. The fight scenes were brutal and well written, and it was easy to follow the action. I felt really let down by the story, however. No interesting twist at the end. "Omens" turned out to be nothing. Just another bloody battle and suddenly the story is over. This author has potential, but I felt this book was a waste of my time.

Good storyline and loved the chacters but to predictable .

this book was an interesting one... with a viking twist on a "romeo and Juliet" plot of two clans that fight each other every 5 years like their gods did years ago.... that is till a common enemy threaten them.... now they have to put their hate down and fight together.
The plot was pretty straight forward and predictable but it still had that little spark that will make you want to know how it will end... will they survive? will they love blossom??

I didn’t know what to expect when I started listening to this. It was a book that had caught my attention and Sounded like something I’d enjoy. I heard it was about Vikings and that’s about it. It was really really good. It was violent with the right amount of gore and uncomfortableness. The romance was inevitable but not cliche. The violence and culnerable was that came from opening ones heart worked in ways that I can’t really explain. The transformation of Evelyn was satisfying and believable. The ending was bloody, and while it didn’t wrap everything up with a bow, it felt complete. I’d definitely read more from this author.
