About this audiobook

Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn't know him at all. Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of everyone's preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can't seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same-especially Penelope Featherington! The girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat-or his promise of a happy ending?

Too much repeating, too drawn out - Colin’s realization of his attraction to Penelope not convincing enough.

I think that watching the Series on Netflix ruined this particular book in the series for me. It was still a good book but not as good as the others in my opinion.

Find out who Whistledown is! This one is fun, just not as steamy as the first two.

I am loving this series! This was another excellent book in it! I was surprised that Penelope Featherington turned out to be Lady Whistledown. But I was so pleased she and Colin fell in love and married!

Very nice book, excellent narration. One thing I didn't like was the way Collin fell in love with Penelope, it just wasn't convincing. But everything else was superb!

Charismatic Rake turns into gaslighting domestic abuse. I appreciate lady Dansbury trying to encourage Penelope to open up and be herself & how she supports other wallflowers. But I am very disappointed in the lack of character development, and Penelope, owning being herself, especially how terribly abusive Colin was to Penelope.

Sweet and innocent love the plot and the message about love for one's family. If only it could be that easy in real life.

Really disappointed with how abusive and controlling Colin is in this book. I wanted to like it, but it actually made me uncomfortable with how often he grabs her forcefully or “painfully” by the arms/wrists/hands, how much he seeks to control her (even before they are officially together) and how angry/explosive he gets. And he gets angry a LOT in this book. Really hope the series Is better…

Colin Bridgerton, has returned home from his world travels, and his family is much relieved to having him home, not knowing if he will stay this time, or like all the other times, just leave once again. Penelope Featherington, has resigned herself to being a spinster, even though she has always been fond of Colin...ever since she met him years ago. When Colin returns, he expects life at home to be the same as it always is, but this time its definitely different, and he starts noticing Penelope in a way very not brotherly like but more like he wants her desperately. But they both have secrets and when they are discovered with that only destroy their feelings for each other....or make their bond of love that much stronger?.....Romancing Mister Bridgerton, is the fourth in the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. I just love Colin and Penelope's story. I don't even know how many times I have read this one, I just enjoy reading it every time. Romancing Mister Bridgerton is a witty, and memorable story that will pull at your heartstrings. Such a charming tale of two people, that both have secrets of their own, but yearns for acceptance and for a chance at love that has alluded them, but will find it in each other. I truly enjoyed this one, and I was completely satisfied by the time I reached the end. From the very beginning of the story, the reader will be taken on a emotional yet fun filled ride that Julia Quinn takes you on, and you will never regret reading Romancing Mister Bridgerton. A Romance that will charm every readers heart!

I liked this story, more than the other books, but i can't say i loved it. I didn't like the quick switch from "i will not marry Penelope" to "i must kiss her". Also i find it problematic all the paragraphs where he's like "she wants to be kissed even though she doesn't know it" - wtf dude.. did she tell you she wants to be kissed?

This may be my favorite Bridgerton book. I had read this years ago, before I recorded things on GR, but decided to go back and read some of the earlier books ahead of the Shonda-fications of those stories. (I love the Netflix series, though the shows have rather tangential relationship to the books.)This is the 4th book in the series. Colin and Penelope's story is extra special since Penelope is one of the few characters not part of the Bridgerton family whom we get to know in the earlier books. I, and I expect most readers, wanted very much for Penelope to find her way to Colin. We also get our resolution to the Lady Whistledown plotline that is so central to the earlier stories. This is not perfect. Julia Quin writes a fun story but her writing tends to be a tad overripe. I also don't think she handled Colin's realization that he felt more for this person who had been a friend for for years -- simply repeating how surprised he was but the shift was not enough for me. But in the end I fully enjoyed this reread, I think more than I liked the original read, and found myself smiling a lot while listening. (Rosalyn Landor's narration of all the Bridgerton books is flawless. She is a marvel.) Good fun!

Another fun entry in the Bridgerton series. This time we get Colin and Penelope's story, and it's lovely. It feels like the coziest and warmest of the bunch so far, without much angst before they get together, and I also love that there's a fair amount of hinting at what's coming up in Eloise's part of the saga.

I really wanted to love this Regency romance, I did. And I did love Penelope. But Colin ... when did Colin become a hot-tempered jerk? Perhaps we always saw him through Penelope's rose-tinted glasses. Part of a Regency is seeing how the characters come together. This one was hard, mostly because Colin was so shallow and such a jerk. But I was satisfied when things came together. I guess part of an author's job is to challenge preconceptions. So while I didn't love the book, I did enjoy it enough to get the next book in the series. It is recommended for fans of the steamier Regency romances.
