About this audiobook

Two murders have rocked the city of Houston. Are they the work of a serial killer, or is a copycat trying to get away with murder? That is the question facing Special Agent Bethany Sanchez, who is eager for her new assignment in violent crimes but anxious about meeting her new partner. Special Agent Thatcher Graves once arrested her brother, and he has a reputation for being a maverick. Plus, their investigative styles couldn't be more opposite: he operates on instinct, while she goes by the book. When hot leads soon fizzle out, their differences threaten to leave them deadlocked. But an attempt on their lives turns up the heat and brings them closer together, and a third victim might yield the clue that will help them zero in on a killer. This could be the case of their careers . . . if they can survive long enough to solve it.

This was the first book for me in DiAnn's FBI Houston series. I thought this was a great crime/drama book. Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves seem to bump heads in the way they operate as agents. Graves does not care for the Sanchez's investigative style at all, he thinks she will not be able to watch his back, and will end up getting him killed.

Graves is a no nonsense, get the bad guy no matter what you have to do to succeed at doing so investigator, he don't mess around he gets right to the point, where as he thinks Sanchez's way of investigation has to be by the book or no go.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes then crime/drama genre.

I had the opportunity to read and review this book by Sourcebooks Fire publishing through NetGalley for an honest review.

Deadlock by DiAnn MillsBethany Sanchez is assigned with the dectective Thatcher who put her brother away in prison. They are on an assignment and need to find the murderer soon.Thare are many facts that are consistent with one another but some things don't add up that it's the same persion.Wife killed had just inherited 8 million so that's a good reason for her husband to have done it.She thinks and tracks down more leads that lead in many different directions.Even when they are shot up because they are solving the murders they keep going: she has to get through to her parents to stop harboring her brother because he had shot at her and her partnet.Lots of quotes from the scriptures when she really needs to get her head about things.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Special agent Beverly Sanchez is on pins and needles the first day that she works with her new partner Thatcher Graves. After all, he did once arrest her brother. Bethany's tries to push her family troubles to the side as she focuses on her job, but the investigation of a possible serial killer leads to several possible suspects--including her own brother. Meanwhile Thatcher is trying to adjust to his new life as a Christian after having once been a ladies man. He wants to earn Bethany's trust and know that he can count on her to cover his back as his partner, but they seem to do nothing but but heads during their first few days on the job. However when her life is threatened, his protective instincts kick in.This is a solid enough romantic suspense story, as far as that goes. I liked Bethany's character and the crazy quirks - like her parrot - that were thrown in. However I found myself having to suspend my disbelief a bit too much - the way their FBI work was played out, especially in relation to their superiors and colleagues, seemed very unlike how a real FBI unit would act to me. Not that I would know but these two got away with a lot of leeway that seemed odd. So my verdict is this book would be alright if you don't want to think to much while enjoying a love story with some suspenseful scenes.

There whole mystery ended up being so complex and yet so simple. The ending was a little too simple. Not like the blow outs endings that Ms. Mills has written in the previous books in this series. It was worth it. So many things resolved in such a short chapter it was head spinning. The serial killer was a bit of surprise and yet I was able to follow the twists and turns as they occurred. I had my suspicion about who the serial killer was and despite that there were some twists. It was great to have some of the background characters were welcomed since they survived their own mystery. I can’t wait for the next series or a continuation of this series.I would like to thank Edelweiss (Above the Treeline) and Tyndale House Publishing, Inc. for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone. If you are a fan of fast-paced romantic suspense, then DiAnn Mills is likely one of your go-to authors. In the third installment of her FBI: Houston series, Deadlock, she combines a serial murder case with lots of twists and turns and two main characters with lots of chemistry. This one is definitely a standalone, although fans of the series will recognize characters from previous books. A quick read, it is a novel I can recommend.Thatcher Graves is a changed man, but his reputation precedes him with new partner, Bethany Sanchez. A seasoned member of the violent crimes unit, Thatcher is not too sure about his inexperienced partner, especially since their investigation strategies are so different. Thatcher is brash and relies on hunches, while Bethany is methodical and logical and a by-the-rules agent. This team could be great or a disaster waiting to happen, especially when the killer puts both agents in his sights. The two main characters of Deadlock, Thatcher and Bethany, have incredible chemistry. Though logic and FBI procedure rule out a relationship, the reader knows right away that these two are meant for each other. Oil and vinegar may not mix, but they do form the basis for some spicy dressing! The plot has more twists and turns than most novels — I had as long a list of suspects as the two agents. Trust is a theme that runs throughout the book — trust in partnerships, family relationships and in God. Both characters are Christians, but are not perfect, and have times when they express both anger and doubt towards God. At one point Bethany asks God what did being sovereign mean except to make sure the bad guys were handled. Natural reactions in the face of danger and confusion. There is one thing that I did not like about the book. The dialog was often choppy with incomplete sentences that didn’t seem natural — not something I noted in the other two books in the series. I found that I sometimes had to go back and reread to get the gist of the conversations. This is a minor thing, but it did bug me.All in all, though, I really liked Deadlock and recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to Tyndale for a review copy. I have read all of Diann Mills books and I couldn't wait to read this one. It starts with a bang and never stops. That is the kinda of hard hitting power pack writing Ms.Mills does that draws readers in.We are introduced to Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves . I loved how these two are different in their techniques on the job. Bethany is one of those people who believed in going strictly by the book. There is no gray area and she doesn't believe in cutting corners . Thatcher is the kind of person who sees the bigger picture and can think outside the box. The author does a great job of giving us two very different but dynamic detectives forced to work together. There is some history between Bethany and Thatcher that really propels the story into a trial of trying to get along with each other as they are forced to focus on the task. Have you ever had to work with someone who you had a problem with? Will Bethany and Thatcher be able to put their differences aside? There are two murders they are investigating and they both have different opinions about the case. They each seem to think their theory is right and this makes for a very intriguing story of nonstop action and personalities that clash. Can they come together and solve the murders? Will their stubbornness get in the way ? It is a race to the finish as they go through evidence and strategies to solve the crime. I love the new duo that the author has introduced in this new thrilling book. They are determined, stubborn, and a welcome addition to her new book. I love the writers style of writing that keeps you on the edge of your seat and gives you twists and turns that keep the action going. This is a must read for anyone who loves mystery and intrigue. I received a copy of this book from The BookClub Network for an honest review.

This is the third book in the FBI:Houston series. Like the first two books this one had many twists and turns. I laughed and cried during this whole story. I loved Bethany and Thatcher. They make such great partners while being so different. This book shows how hard it can be to put up with some family members. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. This is a great Christian fiction novel with lots of romance and suspense. I received this book from Tyndale Blog Network for a fair and honest opinion.

Deadlock is the third book in the FBI:Houston Series. It tells the story of Agents Bethany Sanchez and Thatcher Graves as they go after a perceived serial killer. Along the way Bethany has to not only deal with the cases they are working, but with family issues as well. These issues wind up causing problems not only in her personal life, but begin to affect her professional one as well. I liked seeing how the two agents were able to work together despite the fact that their pasts could come back to haunt them. They are able to put personal differences and methods of working aside to work at solving the case. Even when things are not as they seem, I like the way that they interact. I received a copy of this book from the publisher free to review.

Title: Deadlock (FBI: Houston #3)Author: Di Ann MillsPages: 416Year: 2015Publisher: TyndaleMy rating is 5 out of 5 stars. What do you have when adding a pinch of work and mix it with family issues, murder and intrigue? Another suspense driven FBI case that will keep readers turning pages until the conclusion! Thatcher is the experienced FBI agent who is paired up with Bethany from another FBI division. From the start there are sparks because their methods of solving a case are as vastly different as are their personalities. The stage is set when different people from the Houston area are killed. The solving of the case is complicated. Thatcher and Bethany are learning how each work a case along with sharing some of their past and present. As time goes on, both FBI agents become targets of a killer they have yet to identify. There is also a hint of a budding romance that goes against some FBI regulations. The other two novels in the series are Firewall and Double Cross. Personally, I am always on the watch for a new novel by Diann Mills as her stories are captivating and tension building. The characters crafted by the author are very realistic and it’s easy to visualize the actions in the book which brings readers like me coming back for more! One thing I like too is the chapters are short, which makes the action go faster so there is never a dull moment! It reminds me of rollercoaster rises in that you have to be strapped in securely, but at least there is no motion sickness when I read! I love the crime and law enforcement type of stories. I commend those who place their lives on the line every moment so we can live safely. I like trying to figure out who the mastermind is behind the scenes usually pulling the strings, but Diann is really good at keeping the answer at bay.Grab a book then settle in for an adventure!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.
