Well written. Not fantasy. Great truths woven throughout each story. Loved the epilogue pulling them all to a lovely finish!

These four novellas are interrelated in that they revolve around four babies all born during a 2000 blizzard in North Star, Pennsylvania, to Amish couples. Midwife Rebekah Schlabach delivers the babies at her birthing center; just her and the new mothers-to-be. It was quiet a night. All went well and the babies became known as Rebekah’s Babies. The years passed. It’s now 2015.In the first novella, Guiding Star, author Katie Ganshert gets the ball rolling. Englischer Chase Wellington discovers an article about the babies in his mother’s attic. It seems that one of the babies and her mother disappeared shortly after she arrived. Chase is a freelance reporter and decides to investigate what happened to them. In the second story, Mourning Star,Eden is a single woman working at her parents’ creamery, Dutch Village Fudge. Every day Isaac Yoder comes in to satisfy his sweet tooth. Eden and Isaac become friends; that’s all since he’s so much older. But when Isaac is killed by one of the horses he boards at his stables, Eden has a gut feeling it wasn’t an accident. The third novella, In the Stars, Kore Detweiler isn’t Amish. He was ready to join the community, but after the third of Rebekah’s babies, Savilla Beiler, rejects him, he moves to Virginia. However, when he grandmother takes a fall and doesn’t regain consciousness right away, the family fears the worst. Kore heads home. He knows he will run into Savilla, but isn’t sure he can control his emotions. In the final novella, Star of Grace, Andy Danner wants nothing to do with the North Star community after Nellie isn’t ready to marry him. He moved to Mississippi and prefers to stay there for the rest of his life. However, his younger brother Sam misses him. A lot. Andy agrees to come him if Sam earns the money to buy a ticket. All the stories were well done. There isn’t a lot of tension in any of them. But readers usually know that when they pick up a book like this. Still, the stories have all the qualities necessary for a good story: good plot, a little romance, some mystery, and a moral. And since all take place at Christmas, it was a heartwarming read.I give Amish Christmas at North Star 3 out of 5 stars. A nice read; nothing really special.

Four babies enter the world on a snowy night and their lives become connected by the midwife who delivered them. While these four stories are really standalones, they are woven together by the prologue and the epilogue. The charm of this collection is that five authors came together to write in their own styles, yet they have a common thread in the setting of the tales. And so, we have a novel that is part romance, part mystery, and part murder mystery. And while all are well-written with interesting characters, you will undoubtedly have a favorite tale or two in this collection. I especially enjoyed the offerings by Amanda Flower and Katie Ganshert.

What happens in the Stars”, is about a family that wants to stay together. Will Kole, and Savilla be able to do that and still find love for themselves, What can make to lives back together with other than a trouble of children? One that is expecting to get another member adopted and brought home. Kole and Savilla you can find out more about them.Andy is schemed to bring back home. Amish Christmas at North Star is a nicely woven Christmas story, whether you’re into Amish romances or just looking for a good relaxing read. It’s pleasantly, but not excessively, seasonal too, making it a great read for any time of year. The paths of its four protagonists, born the same day, are completely different of course, and told by different authors. But the town where they were born, the community that loves them, and the midwife, who oversaw their first breath, tie their tales together. The way that relational ties have stretched over time, almost to breaking, without destroying hope or killing the spirit, is what binds these stories as one and makes them such a perfect Christmas read. The stories are set around Christmas, of course, and start when a young reporter decides to follow up on an old newspaper story. Multiple characters, like the disparate parts of a reader's heart, take the stage--orphan, reject and runaway; believer, doubter and conformist; unforgiven and unable to forgive. Lessons are learned with unobtrusive faith and fascinating detail, bringing the Amish world to life within its surroundings of modern America.I learned details I’d never imagined about Amish family life and Amish Christmases in this book. I found wise lessons illustrated too, in trust and forgiveness. And I enjoyed a beautifully Christian read, with no oppressive lecturing; just gentle reminders, real characters, and a story arc that pleasingly binds up hearts and brings tales and people together. I love this book so much I promptly gave it to my mum to read, and she loves it too.Disclosure: Blogging for Books provided this book to me for free in exchange for an honest review.

Four short stories, less than 100 pages each, by four amazing authors that will keep you page turning and wanting more, and soon you are moving to the next story in the book. The stories are based on a terrible snowy night twenty-five years ago, when Rebekah Schlabach the local midwife opens her door for one busy night, and in the end four babies are born, three girls and a boy. The stories that follow are an update about the lives of these babies now known as “Rebekah’s Babies”.These stories are heart warming, and loved the finding and updating each of these individual children, now all grown up. A different author, Cindy Woodsmall, Mindy Starns Clark (and Emily Clark), Amanda Flower, and Katie Ganshert updates each story, but they all come back to Rebekah. A timely treat for this time of the year and with little time, these a quick individual reads.I received this book from Blogging For Books and was not required to give a positive review.

Amish Christmas at North Star contains four Amish Christmas stories set in North Star, Pennsylvania. The stories are written by Cindy Woodsmall, Amanda Flower, Katie Ganshert, and Emily Clark and Mindy Starns Clark. On November 30, 1990 a blizzard is coming through the area and midwife, Rebekah Schlabach delivers four babies. Twenty-five years later Chase Wellington discovers an article in his mother’s attic on what were called Rebekah’s Babies. Chase believes a follow-up story would make a good article for the North Star Tribune where he is a part-time reporter. Guiding Star by Katie Ganshert takes Chase on a search for the child that disappeared after its birth. It will take Chase and Noelle “Elle” McAllister on a journey to find out what happened twenty-five years ago. Mourning Star by Amanda Flower is an Amish Mystery. Eden Hochstetler is living Sugarcreek, Ohio with her parents. They moved there from North Star, PA. A friend of Eden’s, Isaac Yoder passed away at Yoder Stables. Eden wants to find out what happened to Isaac. She does not believe his death was an accident. Eden with the help of Jesse Yoder, Isaac’s nephew, sets out to find out what happened to her friend.Cindy Woodsmall’s In the Stars is about lost love. Savilla Beiler rejected Kore Detweiler. So Kore moved away to Virginia. He works with Esther and Jacob King on their salvage and decorating business. Business takes him back to North Star and a family emergency keeps him there. Mammi D is injured and she needs someone to watch the Adler kids while she is laid up (their parents are in Uganda adopting a child). Savilla and Kore end up working together to take care of the kids. Will Kore be able to find out why Savilla turned him away?Star of Grace by Mindy Starns Clark and Emily Clark is the last story in the book. Andy Danner left North Star after Nellie Umble broke up with him. Andy has been working in construction in Mississippi. Andy’s little brother, Sam misses Andy and works out a way to bring him home for Christmas. Nellie is very sorry that she broke up with Andy and wants him back. Can Sam get Andy back to town in time for Christmas and keep him there? There is an enjoyable epilogue that ties up all the storylines in the book. All four stories are just wonderful. I loved this book. It will help put you in the mood for Christmas. Amanda Flower’s Mourning Star had a good mystery, enjoyable characters, and some delicious descriptions of fudge. Amish Christmas at North Star is a heartwarming and well-written book. You will not go wrong in reading Amish Christmas at North Star. I give Amish Christmas at North Star 5 out of 5 stars. I liked how all these stories were written by different authors by you would never know it. They all tied together beautifully.I received a complimentary copy of Amish Christmas at North Star from Blogging for Books (and the publisher) in exchange for an honest review.
