      Great follow up story. The ending was what I expected and then some.

      I enjoyed the continuation of this story! I liked that the author changed the main character’s point of view in this book to Carlos/James. It was interesting to find out what he was thinking and feeling. Many of the questions I had after the first book were answered in this one. What happened to James to put him into the fugue state? Would Carlos ever remember being James? What happened to him? I love the author’s writing style because I get fully immersed in these novels!

      If Everything We Keep was amazing, Everything We Left Behind is doubly so. What happens seems almost unbelievable, but you’ll be instantly drawn in and unable to let go. Aimee and Ian are together. But is James James again, or is he Carlos? How can this be? This is a writer who knows how to hook you and keep you hooked. Just like with Everything We Keep, the premise is unusual, but it works and you so want these characters to have a happily ever after. Even when you don’t like what they say or do at a moment in time, you are invested in their lives and just want everything to work out.Everything We Left Behind is the sequel to Kerry Lonsdale’s fantastic Everything We Keep. Even though Everything We Left Behind stands alone and is a perfectly good read on its own, I strongly recommend you read Everything We Keep first to get the full effect. At the end of Everything We Keep you sigh and say, “Wow.” At the beginning of Everything We Left Behind you say, “Oh no, how can this be?”In Everything We Keep I found myself wavering between two men from Aimee’s perspective. In Everything We Left Behind I found myself wavering between the two perspectives of one man. The mystery is compelling, but the love and loss almost break your heart. The story is fast-paced, full of danger, suspense and surprises. A lot is at stake and people will go to any lengths to keep secrets. Secrets that go way back and leave you wondering how those that should love you most can be so cruel.The characters are so well developed you can feel their pain and and anxiety and fear. The story is complex but not confusing. This is due to Kerry Lonsdale’s superb writing and the way she keeps the action flowing, making it easy to follow along.I won’t give away the plot in this review because there is no way to add any more detail without introducing spoilers, and the story is too good to do that. Furthermore, I again strongly suggest that you read Everything We Keep first. I read Everything We Left Behind immediately after Everything We Keep. I just couldn’t stop. I was so worried for the characters and had to know if they would be safe, if they could be happy. I just learned there will be a third story in this series. I can’t even imagine where that will take us, but I know that I want to go along on that journey. Kerry Lonsdale will be at the top of my TBR stack from now on. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to discover this wonderful author.

      Well, this book redeemed itself for me after my disappointment in the author's previous title, Everything We Keep. I didn't like the way the first book ended, and I was very concerned as to how the author would continue the story. Because I already had this title, I started reading it immediately in spite of my trepidation. It was soon evident that Everything We Left Behind was going to have a clearer plot, albeit an intriguing one.This book was written from the viewpoint of James/Carlos, and captured my attention from the very beginning. It soon became clear that it was going to be much more to my liking. It held my interest and seemed more believable. Many loose ends were tied up, making it almost seem like this was a part of the original book. The first book introduced the characters and the conflict, but sadly left me flat and full of questions. The addition of this book to the story made so much more sense and brought me around to appreciating the author's course. Suffice to say, I would recommend this title to be read consecutively after the first for a full appreciation of the plot.It would appear that there is to be a third title in this series. I will enjoy picking up this story once again without the fear that I had after finishing the first book. I look forward to Everything We Give.I thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

      I received a free advance e-copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Wow! Great job, Kerry! This is an extremely well written piece of fiction about a man with the rare real life condition, dissociative fugue. I empathize with Carlos/James and his sons and family members. He doesn’t know who he really is. He has created a complete new life for himself as Carlos in another country and doesn’t remember anything from his old life. He has terrible nightmares and headaches. What will happen when he becomes James again? How can he trust anyone again? What about his children; they are caught in the middle. Will their dad remember and want them when he becomes the person he used to be, James? Is James a good person? How terrifying it must be to live with this condition. On top of everything James’ family is extremely dysfunctional. The author does an excellent job of portraying what it would be like to live with dissociative fugue and to have two identities. When he is Carlos he can’t remember himself as James and when he becomes James he can’t remember himself as Carlos. Luckily the author has Carlos keep an extremely detailed diary for James to read and Carlos writes letters with his wishes and instructions to James and other family members. His brothers and at times his mother left a bad taste in my mouth. Dealing with this would be enough to drive most men crazy. This is an amazing story. It is obvious that Kerry Lonsdale researched dissociative fugue extensively before writing this book. This book is well worth the read and I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

      This is the continuation of the series "Everything We Keep". The first book dealt with Aimee who attended her fiance's funeral instead of her nuptials on her wedding day. This book tells us what really happened to James in Mexico. Well, eventually.James is now Carlos and living in Mexico, has two sons, a deceased wife and owns an art gallery. He knows nothing of James. Freaky, but true.Luckily, I had this book on my TBR pile right after I finished the first in the series. I picked it up right after finishing the first book. I could not wait. This one continued the flow, with some overlapping - which is to be expected, and I was right back into the story again. I'm not sure whether there will be more in this series. I could see that there could be. Telling the story of Aimee's life after finding James would be my guess if there is another book.I thoroughly enjoyed this series. This was the first time that I had read this author and will definitely be adding her name to the list of authors to read.Thanks to Lake Union Publishing and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

The genres for this book are General Fiction(Adult), Women's Fiction, Mystery, Suspense with a touch of Romance.This is the sequel to "Everything We Keep". I like the way the author continues the story-line and plot. This story is narrated by the same man in two character roles,as James and Carlos. James was almost killed, and wakes up as Carlos. For 6 years James is in a fugue state. As Carlos, he has two sons, and a wife who died during the birth of his second son. Carlos becomes close and involved with his sister-in-law Nat. Carlos keeps a detailed journal of his life when he becomes aware that he was James. Never knowing when he will find James again, Carlos prepares his older son and gives him a box containing items to this. As Carlos finds himself becoming James again, there are many questions. Most importantly, James/Carlos worries for his two children and above all wants to keep them safe.James family has secrets, betrayals, and major conflicts.Can James ever trust his family? Why was he almost killed? Why is everyone in that family trying to betray one another? As James surfaces with his identity crisis, he realizes that he and his children are in danger. Who can James trust? James is in search of answers.Both James and Carlos love painting, and that is something his youngest son loves as well. The children are confused when James starts to find himself.The author describes the characters as complicated and complex. I like that James/Carlos loves his boys and would do anything to keep them safe.This book is fast-moving, full of adventure, full of suspense and mystery. I read this book in one sitting and couldn't put it down.I enjoyed this intriguing and captivating novel and would recommend it highly. I look forward for Kerry Lonsdale's next book. Happy Reading!

      I really liked Everything We Keep, so I was excited to read James/Carlos's side of the story. I hate to say this but I liked Carlos so much more than James, even though they were the same person. I still disliked James's family, Claire and Thomas were the worst people. Somehow they made me feel sympathy for Phil, which was really hard since he was such a horrible person in the first book.In this book we learn all about Carlos's life in Mexico, how he met his wife and then ends up in love with her sister. The book goes between Carlos and James, since James is now out of his fugue state. Although, it's not until the very end when James gets his full memory back. I probably would not have minded if James went back to being Carlos permanently. I felt bad for the boys. First they lose their mother and then they lose their father and are left with a man who doesn't recognize them.Aimee only makes a small, brief appearance. I thought she might be in the book more, since James still loves her. Although Lacy shows up at the end so maybe there will be another book revolving around her. I enjoyed the book, but I think I liked Aimee's story a bit more. All around it was a good conclusion to Everything We Keep.       I am not a reviewer who is going to tell you the story here. I know you can read the book jacket or go many other places for that information. I am going to tell you how this book made me feel. To do that, let me start with I finished it three days ago and have been unable to write about it until now.I was lucky to be gifted this book. I have read two of this author's previous books and I feel this way after each one. This is a sequel to Everything We Keep, which I fell in love with also. I was not so crazy about one of the main characters in that book and was happy with the decision that Aimee made. I was very happy for her and felt all my tears while reading the book were justified as it ended happily, if not perfectly, for her. And then I read this book. I fell in love again....With the character I disliked. Sort of. Confused yet? Good. You're closer to reading the book to find out what I could possibly mean.This is such a story of love and denial, and love and disappointment, and love. It is so many kinds of love all bundled up with some horrific other things and some undeniable things and some scary things. It is love at its best and its worst. And I was there. I was living every minute of it with every character. I'm still there. I have since read another book and I'm still attached to this one. I will read this again. And again. And so will you. So will you.

      I have been anxious to read this book since I finished the last page of Everything we Keep last summer. Thanks to the author for an early copy to read and review. Everything we Left Behind was all I hoped for and more. Once I started it and I was back in the lives of these characters I didn't want to put it down until the end. Warning: you really need to read Everything We Keep BEFORE you read Everything we Left Behind.This book was mainly about James/Carlos life and how he coped after waking up from a fugue state and found out that he had basically lost over 6 years of his life. After 6 years living in Mexico as Carlos, an artist with 2 young sons, he had no idea that he was really James a rich young American who had been engaged to be married. When he woke up from his fugue state, he had no memory of his life as Carlos and didn't even remember his sons. As he struggles to connect his lives, James has to learn who he can trust and who it is safe to love. This novel is told in alternating chapters with one chapter being present day James and the next chapter bring 6 years earlier with him being Carlos. The author handles this very well and it fills in all of the information in the story line.I definitely enjoyed this book and will read anything that Kerry Lonsdale writes in the future.
