About this audiobook
In Black Privilege, Charlamagne presents his often controversial and always brutally honest insights on how living an authentic life is the quickest path to success. This journey to truth begins in the small town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and leads to New York and headline-grabbing interviews and insights from celebrities like Kanye West, Kevin Hart, Malcolm Gladwell, Lena Dunham, Jay Z, and Hillary Clinton.
Black Privilege lays out all the great wisdom Charlamagne’s been given from many mentors, and tells the uncensored story of how he turned around his troubled early life by owning his (many) mistakes and refusing to give up on his dreams, even after his controversial opinions got him fired from several on-air jobs. These life-learned principles include:
-There are no losses in life, only lessons
-Give people the credit they deserve for being stupid—starting with yourself
-It’s not the size of the pond but the hustle in the fish
-When you live your truth, no one can use it against you
-We all have privilege, we just need to access it
By combining his own story with bold advice and his signature commitment to honesty no matter the cost, Charlamagne hopes Black Privilege will empower you to live your own truth.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a really good book. I have to admit that I was going into it pretty pessimistically. I have a limited knowledge of C Tha God, and what I know of him, I get the idea that he is brash, rude, opinionated, and egotistical - just for starters. But, after listening to this book (via Scribd), I have to admit that I am quite impressed. Admittedly, in some ways, my original opinion of him could still be applicable, but to hear about how and why he is the was he is was eye-opening, and I can't help but appreciate his candor and transparency.
The book brought back memories of my childhood - movies I watched as a teen, my favorite hip-hop artists growing up, slang I used to use when I ran the streets - there were many moments of nostalgia. But, the best parts of the book,in my opinion are the jewels he dropped when it came to growing up, being an adult, manhood, maturity, etc. I found myself taking more notes than I originally thought I would. Also, it was nice to hear how he got to where he is today. I was really unaware of how many folks he associated with as he came up, how many folks he rubbed the wrong way, and how he has genuinely (and proudly) has his reputation.
Now, there are some parts of the book that are fairly graphic in nature and tone - sexually graphic/explicit. So, if that's not your cup of tea - be warned. But, there is nothing too excessive in that area. True, C tha God probably could have used different language in certain areas of the book - but, it's his book, so he doesn't have to. And further, that's kinda what you get from him - raw and uncut language. Besides, you'll see worse in a "R" rated movie now a days than you will hear in this book.
I definitely recommend this book. It's raw, real, and relevant. There are parts that made me laugh, cringe, and also stand up and take notice. Pick this one up.2 people found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great listen with a lot of positive insights. If you happen to be a an avid listener of the Brilliant Idiots podcast you may have heard most of these stories but not to this level of detail.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed listening to the author but felt the writing was a best amateurish, the message was clear tho and he brings some interesting topics and advice. The title is essentially a one chapter thing and not really the topic for the entire book. If you enjoy rap and rap culture, radio culture it's worth a read
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good read very entertaining to say the very least. Thanks
