Descrizione

From the author of the twenty million plus copy bestselling novel The Shack and the New York Times bestsellers Cross Roads and Eve comes a compelling, conversational exploration of the wrong-headed ideas we sometimes have and share about God.

Wm. Paul Young has been called a heretic for the ways he vividly portrays God's love through his novels. Here he shares thirty-three commonly uttered and sometimes seemingly innocuous things we say about God. Paul exposes these as lies that keep us from having a full, loving relationship with our Creator.

With personal anecdotes and sharing the compassion readers felt from the "Papa" portrayed in The Shack-soon to be a major film starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer-Paul encourages readers to think anew about important issues including sin, religion, hell, politics, identity, creation, human rights, and helping us discover God's deep and abiding love.

Beautiful and more beautiful. From the depth of the introduction by renowned theologian C Baxter Kruger - including his magnificent thesis - to the sublime re-focusing on multiple aspects of God’s loving person, this is a deeply intelligent book that ushers in peace, joy and hope.

I had read parts of the shack and the shack revisited but couldn't come to grips with the content, this book is more clear and concise and a great read/listen for any seeker of truth and wisdom.

Great love for God but lacks basic theological understanding. Would not recommend.

I waffled between a two star and four star rating, as I went through this book. I don't agree that some of the "lies" are actually lies. For example, I believe we do separate ourselves from God when we sin and I believe that God (The Father) and Christ are actually male (and that these are not lies). The author also rarely uses scripture to back up his "ideas". That being said, I still think that books like this are good, and that we should not just accept every conventional Christian belief, without confirming that it matches up with what we believe to be true, from our own thorough reading of scripture and personal prayer.

This is a book that challenges Christianity and I have homework to do after reading his ideas
