About this audiobook

At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it's always worked well-until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won't be toyed with. What Leary starts, he'll finish-in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve's job is to ruin Leary's case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he's come to love.

Sawyer Bennett is officially on my top loved authors list! Whether she is writing about athletes, lawyers or anything in between, she always manages to find a way to bring the characters to life and infuse them with such depth and personal intrigue that it is impossible not to fall in love with each one! Moreover, I find it simply amazing that for such a prolific author, each one of her romances has a unique and fresh feeling. Friction is a perfect example which combines all of Ms. Sawyer's best writing attributes and is moreover brought to life by the sexy and talented narrator duo of Sebastian York and Kendall Taylor!Leary Michaels has not had an easy life. Growing up in poverty, she has had to work for everything she has accomplished today, including her lucrative law career. Nonetheless, rather than defend the corporations with deep pockets, she prides herself on having landed a coveted position at Knight & Payne, where representing the individual, rather than the corporate machine, is the norm. Nonetheless, as she has learned in no small part from her legal idol, one of the named partners at her firm, women must use every advantage to succeed at this dog eats dog world, including their feminine wiles if the opportunity arises. The bigger the opponents the more distracted they can become when presented with the right assets to inspect. It is with this mentality that Leary meets Reeve Holloway, a partner at one of the large firms in town, whose number one mission is billing exorbitant fees based on some extra less than necessary billable hours. Fortunately for Reeve, and the other attorneys at his firm, their behemoth corporate clients with their own large corporate bank accounts rarely notice. Notwithstanding that they are opposing counsel on a case, Leary and Reeve skirt and even cross the boundaries of ethical legal behavior when they commence a very steamy affair. However, what starts as a distraction ploy soon turns into the real deal begging the question as to how they can reconcile their personal desires with their career responsibilities.Making matters even worse, this is no ordinary case for Leary, and in fact there is a very personal reason why this case is the most important case she has ever handled. And as is frequently the case in courtroom battles, there are often tricky and clever ways to game system. Therefore, as passions begin to give way and join forces with emotional attachments, both Leary and Reeve will need to decide just how far they are willing to go for love when they are restrained by their ethical legal bar responsibilities. Responsibilities that, if crossed, could spell the end of their legal careers. Being a huge fan of Sebastian York's sexy baritone voice, I knew he was a natural to play the role of power house, sex on wheels attorney, Reeve Holloway. Kendall Taylor, however, is a relatively newcomer to the narrator world, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Well I'm happy to report that the fusion of this team definitely did justice to this legal romantic tale. Narrated in the typical contemporary romance fashion for dual narrator audiobooks, Mr. York performs the chapters from Reeve's perspective and Ms. Taylor the ones from Leary's view point. This style worked great as it helped the listener easily distinguish whose point of view was being shared, particularly when each character is holding back information from the other at crucial parts in the story. Additionally, both narrators produce differentiated voices for each character allowing the listener to easily discern the speaker without having to rely on dialogue tags. Both Mr. York and Ms. Taylor also do a good job of pacing their delivery to match the tone of the scene and to communicate the particular emotions being felt by the characters. All in all, if you're looking for a well developed, legal romance with a touch of suspense and a large dose of passion and romance, then I highly recommend Friction. Moreover, the fantastic narration by Sebastian York and Kendall Taylor make this a great choice for audiobook format!Source: Review copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not a lover of legal fiction, but as this is a Sawyer Bennett story there's going to be more to it, so I thought I'd give it a go. And I loved it.The story has civil litigation attorney, Leary Michaels, representing a young woman who has had breast reduction surgery which has turned out to be a disaster. The surgeon has disfigured her body and his insurance company are balking on paying up.Reeve Holloway is the opposing council on the case. He has misgivings about the case, but he has a job to do.Leary and Reeve find that they are attracted to each other and they start to sleep together, even though they are on separate side but they decide to keep the case out of the bedroom. This is a very interesting read, I loved the legal twists and turns. It's a very light book to read for the layman, and it's hot book, very steamy, I highly recommend it.

Another gem from Sawyer Bennett! She's once again come up with an amazing story that combines her wealth of legal knowledge and her ability to craft a sizzling hot romance.

Leary Michaels is working on a case that is very personal to her and she is willing to do whatever it takes to win it! Since her opposing counsel is new to the area, she needs to find out all she can about him and fast using whatever means necessary. Reeve Holloway is confident, intelligent, and ready to take on any case his new firm hands him. When his first case has him going head to head against the very capable and oh so damn sexy Ms. Michaels, he knows he better bring his A-game to every encounter. Their attraction to each other is strong and intense but messing with opposing counsel might push the ethical line just a bit to far.....

Trust me when I say you don't want to miss this one! I highly recommend it.

“Come, any poor soul needing help. That’s her freakin’ tagline.”

More so than Midge Payne’s tagline, Leary Michaels owns this tagline – heart and soul. Leary is a mentored by Midge to be a force to be reckoned with in the legal community. Knight and Payne never represent the “Man” but work hard for the ‘working Man’ making sure their voices are heard to get a fair shake from Lady Justice. All cases mean something to Leary and she’s out to win at all costs. Along comes a case that means more than ‘something’ to Leary. However, what she didn’t expect was opposing counsel to show up in the form of Reeve Holloway.

As always, Sawyer Bennett creates characters that you get wrapped up in like they are your best friends – rooting for the best outcome. Although Leary is a strong female lead that I prefer (no doormat), it’s Reeve that I felt the most connection to in the story. Reeve sees through Leary’s game and calls her on it. The sexual tension and banter between the two characters keeps the story light hearted then steamy then HOT AS HELL. However, its in the last third of the story where Reeve really pulled at me. He has a decision: right or wrong, he knows he is screwed. It’s not an easy one as there is no easy answer. Sawyer Bennett gives us characters that are driven and powerful; holding each other to a high standard but at what cost?

That’s for you to find out when you turn the first page to enjoy the novel. Although this is part of the Legal Affairs series, the story is definitely can be a standalone. If you are a fan of Sawyer Bennett, this will not disappoint. If you are a first time reader, this is evident example of what awesome reads Ms. Bennett provides.
