About this audiobook

How do you clothe a book?
In this deeply personal reflection, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri explores the art of the book jacket from the perspectives of both reader and writer. Probing the complex relationships between text and image, author and designer, and art and commerce, Lahiri delves into the role of the uniform; explains what book jackets and design have come to mean to her; and how, sometimes, "the covers become a part of me."

An odd little book, sort of a memoir, sort of a collection of musings on book jackets from an author's point of view. As a librarian, I know full well that people do, in fact, choose a book by the cover. As a published author I also appreciate how the cover and the title of a book may not be what the author would have preferred.

Seems like navel gazing from a very talented writer. Not my cup of tea.
