About this audiobook
Tommy Belanger had been born into a dysfunctional family - fed by alcohol abuse, abject poverty and the trials and tribulations associated with living in isolation. His was a life filled with child abuse, incest, bestiality and zoophilia. Tommy hated how those things affected him and his siblings. And he detested his father. He watched his brothers and sisters leave the farm, one by one, and knew that their lives would not be far different from the ones that they had left behind. He knew that he too would leave one day and wondered how far the apple could fall from the proverbial tree.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is child pornography clearly written by some sick man. Details of a man raping his own children. The same man tag teaming his children with his own brothe, their uncle. Lots of incest. The man rapes his wife and beats her into a miscarriage. He also makes his victims pretend to be farm animals while he rapes them. The author should be investigated for child pornography to even think up these perversions.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I could NOT finish this novel. The only reason I went as far as I did was because I was hoping for “PA” to get what he deserved sooner than later.
This was disgusting and I will never understand how “:MA” did not know what was happening to her children and then to the dog.
Society is talking about banning books that SHOULD be read, well this is one that never should have been published, let alone read.
Perhaps “PA” go his but I will never know because I could not finish this disgusting novel.
I’m sorry but his is just NOT my thing.3 people found this helpful
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I could not get past the first 15 minutes. Extremely graphic incestuous descriptive sexual abuse of an 11 year old girl and father as well as a 5 yr old male child.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While parts of this book have some uncomfortably graphic sections with not super necessary descriptive words don’t let it deter you from listening- you can always fast forward through the short rough parts. While this is a work of fiction I think it’s good to keep in mind that similar circumstances are a very unfortunate reality for some in this world and this is a story of the narrator overcoming the terrible hand he was dealt.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was so happy that this horrifying story had a wonderful ending for Tom! I have been through some troubling things in my life, as so many of us have, that I no one shouldn’t have to endure, but they seem like a day at the beach compared to this poor families suffering. It makes you wonder what kind of atrocities that the father and his brother had to experience to be the that way they were. So, so sad. Tom turned out to be an exceptional person/man despite his adversities! I hope that he, Vanessa, Lana, Cynthia, Oliver and, hopefully, Charlotte have a happy, healthy life!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was certainly different from what I'm use to listening to, and at 1st I didn't think I could handle the narrator's voice, but I stuck with it and ended up liking the book !! It is most definitely harsh, sad, un very disturbing in some of the sexual aspects!! Not a book for the weak!!
