I know this is the first in a series, but I like series books to be stand-alones. This one ends with a cliff hanger. I enjoyed the book but was frustrated at the ending.

This book is about a women, named Leah, who lives in the Alasken Territory during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Leah lives in Last Chance Creek with her Brother Jacob. One day when Jacob comes home from doing the mail run he brings home with him a love of Leah's from the past. This brings back the old feelings that she has for Jayce, but she doesn't know if Jayce loves her in return. They meet this women named Hellina who is a pikerton agent after Jayce for a crime, but Leah gets the wrong idea and thinks that Hellina and Jayce a romantic relationship. There is many Hardships through out the book but Leah allways looks to God to find the answers. If you like love stories that involve growing in your faith with God and allways putting God first, then this is a book for you!

I really enjoyed 'Summer'. The story felt as real as the characters. Nothing was hurried as often is the case in books. You felt like you were there with Leah and Jacob. I am looking forward to book 2 due out in July. One thing I will mention is that Tracie's Yukon Quest Series...'Treasures of the North', 'Ashes and Ice' and 'Rivers of Gold' are excellent as well and in these books we first meet Jacob and Leah when they were young. You also meet Karen and Adrik who are mentioned in 'Summer'. It's always great to get the history! It makes the story more complete. I read 'Summer' first then went back and read the Yukon series.
