    The title of the book comes from Luke 17:21. It is a non-fiction work of the famous Russian author Leo Tolstoy. He wrote it after many years of reflexion on Christianity and Jesus.     Count Lev (Leo) Nikolaevich Tolstoy was born at Vasnaya Polyana in the Russian province of Tula in 1828. He inherited the family title aged nineteen, quit university and after a period of the kind of dissolute aristocratic life so convincingly portrayed in his later novels, joined the army, where he started to write. Travels in Europe opened him to western ideas, and he returned to his family estates to live as a benign landowner. In 1862 he married Sofia Behr, who bore him thirteen children. He expressed his increasingly subversive, but devout, views through prolific work that culminated in the immortal novels of his middle years, War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Beloved in Russia and with a worldwide following, but feared by the Tsarist state and excommunicated by the Russian Orthodox church, he died in 1910.

      I enjoyed this, but want to be able to combine the text with the audio and cross reference quotes. It does not work well in this format.

      Very articulate dismantling of the perspective of people who choose to hang onto Romans 13 to justify government authority or wars and also to remember that you do not find salvation outside, here or there... be the change you to see

      A masterpiece on 19th century morality, still relevant today. Tolstoy accurately predicted World War 1. He makes accurate criticism of Christianity and society at large. Though I can not agree 100%, and he tends to drag on unnecessarily, I would still recommend this book to anyone interested in history, religion, politics, or philosophy.
