      I've been following the books within this series, and this is one of the best. It's possible to read it as stand-alone, but I recommend starting with the first in the series - to better understand Lucy's character, and the relationship between the various regular characters. This is Lucy Kincaid #8 in the series. There was action, intrigue, and new beginnings. This was mostly suspense, with little romance, but that is how I like my romantic-suspense stories. This has less romance than the other books in the series, in my opinion - but enough. Also, Allison Brennan is very good at addressing the psychology of why people behave the way that they do.
