    Maggie is a seventeen-year-old girl who's had a bad year.       Another twilightesque story, it was mushy, cheesy, and swoony, exactly what I was looking for, after reading such heavy, intense books recently, I wanted something with a little romance and a little out of this world to get lost in. And did Significance deliver.

      I liked Maggie's inner and outer dialogue, well, at least most of the time. At the beginning of the book I thought "oh wow, I love how Maggie's dialogue flowed" but after that I don't remember much, or at least I wasn't thinking much about the writing because I so caught up in the swoonyness of the story. Everyone loved everyone, almost, Maggie was on the side of the best and the baddest, the abilities were out of this world, everyone loved her, yep things were tied up in a nice little perfect bow, so cheesy, loved it! It's fiction after-all, so yes I happy that Shelly Crane just ran with it wrote an unreal romantic story.

      Maggie's significant other Caleb, was the perfect gentleman, sweet, caring, tender, respectful, too good to be true. Their romance was just 'wow' sickeningly cheesy, loved it? I was grinning from ear to ear reading about their interactions and love for each other.

      Significance was an obnoxious touchy-feely story. Loved it!

      This was such a pleasure to read, or should I say listen to. It was such a relief to find a nice, sweet, agreeable heroine who isn't offended by every little thing like in other books I've read. Loved the pacing and, the relationship between Caleb and Maggie. It was wonderful

      Cover: It’s alright…Maggie:I don’t like her but I also don’t hate her… It’s just that sometimes I can connect to her, other times I can’t… In some pages, I feel that it’s my first time reading about her… And her feelings for Caleb were something I question… Does she really like or love him already? Why was she not freaking out when she learned about Caleb and his family? I know that there are some that won’t really freak out but it seems that she accepted it without questions and that is something questionable… Anyways, what the Watsons did to her was unforgivable; she should not have experienced that… And her power as something I really like… =)Story:I honestly expected that I would absolutely love the story, and I was wrong… I did like the story but I did not love it… There was nothing in the book that made me head over heels about it…Maggie and Caleb’s relationship was bland… I felt that there were no spices, no fireworks… That day when they met, they easily got attracted to each other… Yes, it was supposed to be just like that, but something was really missing… I guess I was waiting for the feeling that I’m happy for their relationship but it never came… It’s not that I’m not happy for them it’s just that it was hard for me to connect with them...And I hate the Watsons… They don’t have the right to do that to Maggie… That event happened years, decades ago… They were not involved in that, they should just let it go… But it seems like they are people who holds grudges…Overall, the story was good but it did not reach my expectations…P.S. The story actually reminds me of Twilight, with the imprinting and mind reading… NOTE: It just reminded me of Twilight, I did not say it is like Twilight…Happy Reading!!! Thank you!!!

      I'm weird about this book/series. It was good. I stayed up entirely too late reading it. It moved kind of slow but I was really excited about it while I was reading... I just don't know. Maybe it's only a 2 or 3 star book for me. I keep waffling on that so I gave it 4 because I like to give the benefit of the doubt and I DO feel like the series has some merit.

      I think part of the reason I am a little conflicted about it is that it seemed a little oppressive towards women, bordering on misogynistic at times. Actually, it seemed a lot oppressive towards women at times. But then, I could see how in the plot that was one of the "changes" that might occur. But I still highly doubt it's ever going to make my feminist side feel all warm and fuzzy.

      It also had a highly annoying amount of typographical errors. Very highly annoying. Like, at times, I couldn't exactly make out that the character was supposed to have said. It was also extremely overboard with the "I Love You's" and reassurances. Both characters are totally insecure, but I guess that's better than the female being a total insecure mess all by her poor little ole' self. That gets annoying.

      The author's agenda comes through in parts of the book at times too. I understand that nearly every author has "something to say" in their work, but it was a little too soap-boxy... a little too put on... a little 'holier than thou'.

      In spit of all of my criticism I am definitely going to read the next installment of this series and I really did like it. Crane has a great gift for story telling but the actual writing needs some serious attention. The plot doesn't flow smoothly, some of the events are awkwardly placed, but the characters are wonderful and the basic plot is very entertaining and original enough. I feel like the actual writing will only get better as Crane continues to write.

      Significance and Accordance I read those two so far and they sooooooooo gooooood. Shelly Crane you’re my new favorite author.First touch and dang soul mate ahh this is so romantic. So significance is the first book where we learn about the basics of course the touch and its consequences, then the love that starts to get deep and deep for Maggie and Caleb, they are so cute together and of course all the events that follow through the book. I really enjoyed reading it, I didn’t get bored at all, I was practically eating the pages. I was really sad for Kyle though in the first book he was so sure of himself and his feelings for Maggie, he just seemed to accept his faith and try to be accepted by her even if she was meant to be with Caleb but to see him in the second book find the feeling, eventually with Lynn, that Caleb and Maggie shared I was really happy for him. I also have to say something about Bish and Jen I hope that they will be together they were so hurt in the past after all and they really deserve a happy endings, I hope I will read about them in the next chapters.And of course Maggie’s dad I wich also that he can find someone in the next chapters because he also was disappointed in his life and deserve a new one.And of course the threats that have to pope up every one in a while make those books really amazing. The danger and the willing to sacrifice for the love of your life is just priceless and make my heart beat with the characters.Epical love story, epical adventure because I have to say it is an adventure, epical drama. Shelly Crane you are my new hero.

      Maggie's just on cusp of a real life, she's smart, pretty and has a butt load of college potential ......at least that was Maggie's life a year ago. Now on the night of her high school graduation, happiness that seemed possible before is now plagued with depression over her mom leaving, her father becoming a dried up shell who lost the will to live and her long time boyfriend trading in his together forever card in exchange for a lets just be friends. With no college plans, no boyfriend, and no money to take care of herself, the odds are slim and with the future hanging in the air, you guessed it, life sucks.Drowning in her sorrows, Maggie finally agrees to go on a date with a guy who has been bugging her for months, figuring it can only cheer her up, what Maggie doesn't realize is that her decision will change everything, and not only for the course of her life, but her mind, her body and heart forever. On her way to meet the lucky guy, she stumbles upon Caleb, a random stranger waiting to cross the street, but also a member of a family clan who are not just human, but super humans with talents and gifts ranging from healing to mind reading. As they wait, Caleb crosses the road distracted and when he is almost hit by a truck, Maggie saves his life and the two wind up piled together on the sidewalk. One touch is all it takes to set a chain of events in motion that launch these strangers into a surprising journey of love, suspense and action. Tradition in Caleb's family legacy always involved imprinting, two people who would become soul mates binding together in order to ascend and receive special powers, but an imprint hasn't happened in many years, so long that much of the younger generation believes it to be myths. So when Caleb imprints on Maggie (think: Twilight's Jacob) its a miracle and joyous time for the family, ones who are supportive, talented themselves and of course rich. Maggie, understandably is overwhelmed because she herself changes and becomes physically, emotionally and supernaturally connected to Caleb, their lives are twined as one heartbeat and as they get closer the fire between them burns into a tangible electricity that no one can come between. Although one group, a rival clan (and only other superhumans) when learning of Caleb's imprint, become freaked out for Caleb and Maggie to receive powers, angered that it will make them weaker and hell bent on preventing it from happening they plot a scheme to go after Maggie and break the couple up, either by death or a prevention of ascending, because without each other they each die. Darn you evil plotters!! Can Caleb save Maggie? Can Maggie save Caleb? Only time will tell as they race against the clock to ascension.The insta-love in this story was about as bad as a blast of Axe body spray hitting your face, Maggie and Caleb's mega-second meeting of the minds rushes them and us into a scenario of supernatural elements that connect them body and soul, so what normally takes couples years to achieve in trust, closeness and intimacy happens overnight for Maggie and Caleb. This of course intensifies the story and works to push the overnight love into a believable sometimes annoying plot device, because while the two feel physical pain apart and physical pleasure together they each still struggle to deal with the intense feelings, bringing the annoying aspect (insta-love) into perspective.I dig the story line Crane created with Significance it was clever and certainly an entertaining concept, where I had a hard time with this was in its pacing and overall presentation. The dialog, actions and scenes had major repetition problems, and where the plot was desperately in need of flushing out, the reader is led down bunny trails that never get resolved or we see missed opportunities for character development. Sometimes there would be pages of build up with no outcome, it was frustrating because I knew what I wanted to read, yet it never played out that way. So I'm on the fence with this one, where Crane's presentation came up short, her characters and writing show great potential, however lack of depth, fluidity and its novice structure makes me hesitate to finish the series.

      I thought the beginning was pretty good and that the book had promise, but it all went downhill pretty quickly. The romantic sections were repetitive and boring and the action/drama was just absurd. The book just kind of ends, too. If you're looking for any kind of ending you won't find it here, and the relationship between the two main characters barely takes off at all in this first book. Really not a fan!

      Significance is the first book in Shelly Crane’s Significance series. There are four books total with a companion book. In this case, it is necessary to read the first book in the series and work your way down the list. I should also note there’s a film version of the series coming to a screen near you.Ultimately what doesn’t work for me is how quickly Maggie and Caleb fall in love. Maggie even questioned her constant need for him and Caleb himself said to her that he wouldn’t push himself on her. He doesn’t, and I realize situations forced them be in each other’s company, but it wasn’t believable to me. Also the whole imprint concept was a bit rushed and not thoroughly explained. I don’t know if it’s just the way I view things, but I would imagine if your soul mate was in the same room with you, you’d know them or perhaps feel them. In two distinct incidents, Maggie and Caleb are in the same area, but the imprint doesn’t happen until later. Yes in hindsight I can see why Crane set it up the way she did, but it just doesn’t work for me.There are a lot of unanswered questions that are never addressed. I assume this is because the author felt it was necessary to expand on her series and fill in the details as you read along. For starters who and what are Virtuosos? Why doesn’t Maggie demand more answers regarding their identity? What does it mean to be Aces? Also why are there fewer imprints happening? What caused the shift in change? Why is it rare for a human to imprint with a Virtuoso? Crane never explains why it was possible for a Virtuoso to be attracted to a human despite knowing they aren’t meant to be. I debated with the ending and decided on a two because of the amount of skipping I did. I realize you can’t fully understand a plot if you’re skipping and you miss details, but I found I didn’t miss anything at all. I expected something BIG to happen and it just didn’t. The one section I thought for sure would be the climax just fizzled. I also had a small problem with the font used. It made reading difficult and was a strain on the eyes. Finally, the ending was a big no. I won’t say how it ends, but it’s not a way to end a book. Correction, it’s not the way most authors would end a book. In the end, this book read too much like Twilight and I’ve never read the books and haven’t seen the films. You can tell the author is a Twilight fan because a dog is named after a character and mentions the series (Maggie and Caleb discuss the films). There are references to Caleb’s large family that happily accepts Maggie with no questions asked. And just like Twilight, there’s a love triangle. If you’re a fan of Twilight you might enjoy this book.

      Significance is a book for the YA paranormal romance fan for sure. While I was put off at first by the very rapid move to the feel of 'insta-love', the explanation makes sense. The draw back for me was there is little build up and time to get to know the female main character before the magic of the main plot begins. That being said, it doesn't take long for the paranormal tension and angst to begin, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story.I thought the romance between Maggie and Caleb was great. I like it when two good people get together. I did start to find Caleb's cousin a bit annoying with his infatuation with Maggie. Even though they knew each other from school, I'm more inclined to think part of it is jealousy that Caleb found his Significant, and that it just happened to be his friend. I don't blame the guy. In a time when finding your mate isn't happening for their kind, I'd be jealous too. But seriously, it got a bit creepy at point. BUT, it adds another element of angst and I'm all about the angst.Maggie takes a lot of very odd news in stride, which at first made me cock my head and think, "Really?" but seriously, you get sucked into this story and you're glad she accepts things quickly so you can read more of the growing plot. Maggie turns out not to be one of those whimpy, crying girls, and proves to be quite a cool Significant. Caleb, well, yes, he's swoon worthy and has the qualities I'd like to see in my Significant. :)Caleb's family will capture your heart as well and I'm truly invested in not just the main characters.The enemies in the story do come across as villains willing to do anything to keep their rival family from gaining more power. Maggie is a threat to them as she is the first Significant in a long time for the younger generation. I am interested to see future show downs between the families.Other than the quick jump from normal Maggie to paranormal Maggie, this story captured me and I look forward to seeing where the future leads for all the characters. Love for Caleb's sister? Yes, please. *fingers crossed*

      This story enraptured me from the beginning. Yes, its a gooey love story, with a paranormal twist. Yes, it does contain errors. Yes, it was a fun and wonderful read and I can't wait to see what will happen next. It was nothing to complicated, no whiney heroines, just an extremely entertaining story.

      I have to start off by sharing a slightly funny story. A few weeks back I was on Amazon, searching for some new books and I kept coming back to this idea of a girl and boy who discover they are soul mates when they first touch each other. I searched and searched, trying to find a cover or blurb that sounded familiar. I knew I'd seen it as part of a giveaway blog hop, so I finally went back the the original Linky list for the hop and started looking at the 200+ participating blogs. Well, after about 50 blogs I gave up, figuring if I was meant to read it I would eventually find it. Fast forward three days and I got home to find a large package in my mailbox. And there it was! The book I'd been searching for was one I'd actually one in a giveaway!! That book was Significance.Anyways, I'm glad that fate found a away for me to read this book. I really enjoyed it. If you love a sweet romance with a paranormal twist then this is definitely a good choice.When I first started reading, I was a bit worried that Maggie was going to be one of those pity party characters, constantly complaining about everything and everyone in her life. Thank goodness, she wasn't. She ended up being a pretty likable character, and best of all she's not constantly being rescued by Caleb, and in fact by the end of the book she's the more powerful of the two. The love story is really the main part of the book, and everything else just seems to build into that relationship. While there is obviously a planned love triangle heading their way in the rest of the series, I think Crane did an amazing job of developing Maggie and Caleb's connection as one that includes absolute trust and faith in the other. Not just because they are attracted to each other, but because they are able to see into each other's souls, something that isn't just told to the reader, but shown as well.Part of me wants to give this 5 stars, but there were some awkward phrasings and it started following the too common YA paranormal love triangle formula a bit too much. But I will definitely be checking out the next book in the series, might try to hold out a month or two to see if I can find it in a giveaway :)

      Significant tells the story of completely ordinary Maggie, who has had a rough year. Within days of her mother leaving their family, her jock boyfriend dumps her as well. Then comes a chance, and abrupt, meeting with Caleb and Maggie's world completely changes. Not only does she fall in love (putting it mildly) with a complete stranger, but his enemies are after her in attempts to keep Maggie and Caleb apart.For all those Twilight fans, this book is completely up your alley. The similarities between the series are obvious, however Crane takes her readers on an adventure in a complete different direction than Meyers. Crane takes ideas made popular by Meyers, and creates a whole new supernatural world, that has readers desperate for more. Even those who don't like supernatural young adult fiction, will love this book.

      Significance is a powerful and mouth watering paranormal romance. From the start Crane gives a abrupt romance that will take readers a moment to grasp. The instantaneous love between Maggie and Caleb lacks the build up that captivates and mystifies readers. As the character come to terms with their uncontrollable heart stopping romance; so will the readers. To overcome this significant’s have a rare ability to read one another's minds; for readers this will allow us to see past the intensity of this romance to truly learn the character. This display of creativity shows talent, and the authors importance to detail and genuine emotion. I am enthralled with all of the characters of the story with each unique and lovable personality. As a hopeless romantic I loved the possessive and protective nature of Caleb and his family. This family offers her love, acceptance, and stability that helps her to transform from a young girl to a young woman by the end of the book. Not everyone is happy about the imprint, and Maggie soon finds herself in the middle of a feud. With anger that has been seething for years, she is the chip that could sway the scale and the enemy will stop at nothing to have her. By the end of the book I struggled to recall any of the difficulty that I experience at the beginning, but as a reviewer I felt obligated to acknowledge some structural struggles. By the end of the novel Shelly Crane has proven to not only be a talented writer, but a story teller. I can’t wait to see what happens in Accordance, especially now that we have overcome the difficulty of starting such a complex story. BOOKWHISPERER RECOMMENDED!!!
