      Isabella is in desperate need to save her brother who has been captured and tortured, and goes to the only Don she knows that is powerful enough to help her. Full of courage and strength she heads up to his valley, rumored to be ridden with lions, she knows she could very well perish, but desperation and fear for her brother keeps her going forward until she makes it to his home...his lair. After meeting the rumored beast, Don Nicolaie DeMarco, she makes a pact with him, his help in rescuing her brother in exchange to marriage with Nicolae. Isabella knowing that she doesn't have much choice, other than letting her brother die, she agrees and with that agreement a desire is awakened in them both. Although Nicolae is lethal, Isabella, even though she fears him at times, starts to see the good parts of him, and slowly starts to fall in love with him, and put all her trust in him despite the danger that he poses to her....in her mind Love is powerful enough to conquer any curse that could destroy them....Lair Of The Lion is a single title by Christine Feehan, and as this is probably my favorite paranormal author, I couldn't resist reading it, even though its not a part of any of her wonderful series, this still had the same ring of sensuality, danger and intriguing plot....and having just finished it, was a bit disappointed to see it end. I could hardly keep myself away from this one and read it in only a few hours. Lair of the Lion is a story that takes place in the Italian Alps, and is mixed with folklore and definitely goes under the category of "Beauty and the Beast" where two people are consumed by a inflaming passion that turns into a powerful love...such a remarkable read and I am so glad that I was able to read this one. Definitely gets a score of 5 for me...there was nothing about this story that I didn't like....Feehan definitely held me captivated from beginning to end!!!My Favorite Quote"You haven't forgiven me yet, " he observed thoughtfully. "I thought we had dispensed with your unfavorable opinion of me,"She managed her haughtiest tone "I see nothing in my behavior that would lead you to believe that. I was merely polite, as good breeding commands,""Really," His voice low, one eyebrow shooting up. Nicolai simply reached out, almost in slow motion, his palm curling slowly around the nape of her neck. Fire raced through her body at the touch of his lips on hers. Every muscle clenched tightly. His lips moved against hers, a slow teasing of senses, awakening her to a world of sensuality.

      I love Feehan and I really enjoyed this book. This was one of the few that didn't follow her typical formula. Since I love her formula, it bummed me out a bit. I still enjoyed it though. I really liked Isabella since she was such a strong person. I don't usually care to hear the story through only one POV, but it worked in this story. I enjoyed their romance but I didn't like that he was so wishy washy.

      Disclaimer: I got this book from the public library and have received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.My paranormal romance reads so far this last half of the year have not been disappointing. See, browsing a library can bring good things your way.This is not one of her more recent works (Lair of the Lion was published in 2010) but it still has all the hallmarks of Feehan's style that I enjoy.The heroine in this story is not shrinking violet which was fun to watch as she pitted her will against the hero/antihero, Don Nicolai DeMarco's "cursed" existence. The characters were complex and pretty well developed so that I didn't feel like I was reading about "token fodder" for the sake of the plot.There were a few twists that I honestly didn't see coming and can't list because they would spoil the book.Would I recommend this? Yes, especially for those who love saucy heroines.

      An evil entity awakens as soon as Isabella enters the DeMarco valley, determined to destroy her. Can Isabella and Nicolai break the centuries old curse or will she be slain, her soul trapped in the valley for eternity, never finding peace, along with all of the others?

      I really enjoyed this book. It is a beauty and the beast type scenario with enemies turning up around every corner. Danger and romance fill this page turner.

      I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I began this book. I’m not usually a “romance” reader. It was suggested to me by someone who knows my reading habits. She told me that Feehan was “paranormal before it was cool”. She was dead on in her recommendation. I loved the book!! My best description is a mash up of Beauty and the Beast and Adult Romance with a paranormal theme. Once I had read the first 30 pages or so I was hooked!

      I adore this book. Feehan's writing style is perfectly suited for gothic novels. Although I generally hate how domineering her heroes are vs how limp her heroines are, this book is a huge exception. Right from the beginning they start out on even ground. The heroine is the beauty, strong and caring, with a solid streak of honesty that makes her stand out. The hero is the tortured beast who knows he shouldn't keep the heroine for himself but can't seem to walk away from her.

      Everything about this novel works for me. The dark and gloomy castle, the strange howling in the night, the ghosts, the beasts, the dark and stormy weather. But mostly it's the romance I love. I love that Nicolai falls in love with Isabella in spite of his good intentions, and that Isabella brings out the best in him. They way they care for each other is fabulous, and really brings home what romance is all about. All-in-all a great read.

      This a beauty and the beast story without much plot or action and absolutely no characterization. On the other hand, once the sex scenes start, they're lusty and frequent, but unforunately not very original.Probably the most irritating aspect of the book is Feehan's use of italicized Italian words. signora, famiglia, palazzo, aristocratizla, cara....If we are to assume that the characters are speaking Italian, why then would some of their words be in Italian and most in English? Endearments would be one thing, but if I have to read the words 'mio fratelleo' one more time I am going to growl. I gave it one star because I had to force myself to finish it. And had it been a library book, I would have just taken it back.I enjoy fantasy plots, but the requisite word here is PLOT, something LAIR OF THE LION lacks.I used to look forward to Christine Feehan's books. But this is my last one.

      A beauty and the beast story. This is set in Italy. Isabella Vernaducci is trying to save her brother and the only person powerful enough to do so is Don Nicolai DeMarco. He's reputed to have some magic about him and there are legends about the lands he claims as his. They find themselves drawn to each other, but can he defeat the evil within himself, will she be able to help him or will the beast defeat both of them.Pretty predictable story, but passable.

      This wasn't bad. I think some of the best novels like this are the ones that aren't part of a series, just a good stand alone story. This one had all the characteristics of Ms. Feehan's other works, but wasn't as repetative as soem of the others.
