SAAB 9000 (1984-1998)
Giving Saab a useful flagship to sit above the long-running 900 models was the new 9000, eventually available in a choice of five-door hatch and four-door saloon body styles, numerous trim levels and with impressive performance thanks to Saab’s experience with turbocharging. Like all cars from the ‘Type Four’ project, the 9000 came with front-wheel drive and offered decent handling.
The last five years have seen the 9000 move from ‘cheap transport’ to ‘modern classic’ status, with the best survivors rising in value. It’s still possible
