Q How suitable is the new CCI 45-gr Suppressor .22 rimfire ammunition for rabbits?

A The CCI Suppressor cartridge uses a 45-gr bullet with a lead hollowpoint that is designed to work well in semi-automatic rimfires.

That small extra weight provides a big advantage to momentum, helping to get the inertia recoil-operated semiautomatic rimfires firing sweetly and reliably. It is quoted at 970fps velocity, making it subsonic in any temperature. On test from my Sako 14.5in barrel, it shot 949fps velocity, giving 90ft/lb energy, compared to CCI’s normal 40-gr subsonic load at 1,072fps and 102ft/lb energy.

The extra 5-gr is profiled at the tip as a longer second driving band with a larger hollowpoint design. It was accurate in my rifle, as well as quiet. It expanded well to 0.369in and penetrated to 10.7in in the ballistic media. Though it is really designed for semi-automatic rimfire use, this CCI round is a good bolt-action load, too. BP
