GET ON BOARD FOR MINSMERE

As much as I respect Richard Negus as a broadcaster and country pursuits writer, I feel he’s got it sadly wrong on Sizewell C and RSPB’s Minsmere reserve (Country Diary, 6 January). OK, so Minsmere might be “man-made” but, to a certain extent, so are numerous other conservation projects. As for the “array of... monolithic hides” the RSPB members — many of whom are disabled — pay good money to utilise these facilities and do so because they enjoy the birdlife and views they might not otherwise access.

As for the benefits of the “clean electricity” provided by a foreign-owned, for-profit business consortium,
