tar Kevin Bacon admits to making this 1990 homage to the monster movies of the '50s because he was 'running out of money'. Yet it would become one of his best-loved films; swerving a weak box office home video blockbuster, finding an audience who loved its tightly constructed script, terrific characters, slick humour and, of course, the ‘Graboids’ themselves (one of the truly great modern movie monster designs).
