Pick Me Up Special


Sitting opposite the consultant after a routine mammogram, I smiled nervously. ‘All OK?’ I asked.

It was April 2015 and I’d been going for screenings every year for a decade.

But, they never seemed to get any less petrifying.

Especially with my unlucky family history…

My mum, Barbara, 77, had amazingly fought off breast cancer back in 2003.

My nan, Rose, and great nan Annie, had it before then, too.

It meant I always made sure I went to check-ups.
