SAM BURGESS’ SHOWDOWN IN COURT!
The inner turmoil of the Burgess family has been laid embarrassingly bare as the case against retired NRL Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess over the alleged assault of ex-wife Phoebe’s father, Mitchell Hooke, turns nasty.
During the first day of the trial, the court heard a recording of the emergency phone call that Phoebe, 31, made when she found her dad shaking after an alleged altercation with Sam, also 31, at the Hooke family estate in the NSW Southern Highlands in October 2019.
“He has threatened and abused my father,” she can be heard saying through tears. “He’s done this to me, too.”
When the operator asked if Sam was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Phoebe answered, “Yeah, normally, that’s what we’ve been going through.”
