As I write this article here in the UK we’re under lockdown due to the coronavirus, and I’m extremely thankful for the wide range of board games I have in my house, which are liable to help make the next however many weeks pass that much quicker. We’ve got a bit of everything, from the simple and the classic to rather more advanced, modern games.
If you’re not in the loop as to what board games have been up to, things have come a mighty long way since Ludo, Snakes and Ladders and even the likes of Monopoly and Cluedo. This is a huge, growing industry that offers a wide variety of games, some intended for children and families, others squarely aimed at the adult gaming community. And as more and more fresh and exciting games emerge, there are an increasing number of windows opening for writers to create content for them.
