CASUAL The energy is high and the flavors are forward at this Ohio import that debuted in December 2019 in the first wave of business to open at Hamilton County’s The Yard at Fishers District. In a dining room that combines the best parts of a craft brewery and an unfussy family haunt, crowd-pleasing dishes like loaded tater tots, Andouille sausage–spiked shrimp and grits, and brown-buttered pierogies have lots of moving parts, complex but more fun than fancy. 1933 Lounge

STEAK AND COCKTAILS A younger, sexier remake of Indy’s fine-dining institution, St. Elmo Steak House, informs the genteel tone of this modern cocktail lounge. One of the first occupants to open its doors in The Yard at Fishers District, 1933 Lounge is among the new ventures from St. Elmo’s parent company, Huse Culinary. The twist here is that the black-vested servers deliver Oysters Rockefeller, 45-day dry-aged ribeyes, and wedge salads to diners lounging on deep velvet sofas or tucked into noir-lit corners where no one can see their faces melt into a brief ugly-cry at that first bite of incendiary shrimp cocktail.
