Shear poultry perfection

AS a former poultry keeper, ‘The chicken and the eggs’ () was a poignant reminder of the pleasures and rewards involved. Unlike those still waiting for an appointment with the hairdresser or dog groomer, there has been no such issue with our chosen breed of chicken these days. It was simply a case of sharpening my ‘preening shears’ for the overdue annual trim; what’s more, there are no ruffled feathers and no fox-proof fencing involved—the perfect breed.
