Beth is one of SewOver50’s 18,000 followers on Instagram. Many of these followers join in by posting photos of what they’re making or have made, often proudly modelling the projects themselves, and use the hashtag #SewOver50 so that other like-minded people can find them. Other users might hit the “like” button or leave an encouraging comment. Connections are formed, advice and inspiration shared. On the @SewOver50 account itself, we repost one of these posts on a daily basis, sharing the garments or technique with our followers. We repost many more on our stories each day, sharing a cross section of what our community is up to, including happy events such as makers from the community meeting up in real life or informing followers about forthcoming events and challenges.
