 NBC and decided to reveal the name of the woman who accused William Kennedy Smith of rape, about which wrote, “the media’s coverage of the Kennedy case fueled the debate over an increasingly controversial issue: should rape victims be identified in the press?” The move raised “new questions about a woman’s right to privacy—and how to erase the stigma of rape.” Since the beginning of the #MeToo movement, more and more women have come forward voluntarily, giving them both a voice and agency as they tell their stories.
