Henry Shukman is a poet, writer, and Zen teacher, but once upon a time, he was a troubled kid who suffered from severe eczema, a broken home, and rage over his lack of control in life. “Fuck the parents, fuck the skin, gimme a roll-up of old Holborne and a bottle of ale,” he writes. Yet Shukman eventually found meditation, and through that, a glimpse into how to awaken spiritually and work it. chronicles his journey to figuring that out. “I wanted to try to map the road by which I came,” he writes.
