Meet the people

Chris Moolman

Manager of Resthaven Guesthouse

Chris is a 30-year-old bachelor who has lived in Matatiele since the age of nine. “I like the people here, the climate is great, and I’m crazy about the mountains. Autumn is my favourite season, because it starts to cool down. The only disadvantage is that we are far away from all the big places, the shops and the movies!”

After school, Chris worked at a travelling carnival in Michigan and Indiana in the US. “A bunch of South Africans took care of constructing and breaking down the carnival at every site. It was good money – US$250 per week – but the hours were crazy. Fortunately, I was young enough to take the punch!”

Now, Chris, whose parents have lived here for all these years, says he enjoys his job
