THE A-MAZE-ING SPEKBOOM

THEY wanted to make a major statement, one climate change denialists would find impossible to ignore.

And that’s exactly what they’re doing. Their Great Labyrinth of Africa –with dimensions roughly the same as the largest of the Ancient Egyptian pyramids – is taking shape among the rolling hills of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. And it will eventually be so vast that astronauts will be able to see it from space, says Peter Shrimpton, founder of the Great Labyrinth of Africa project.
