Designer Notes

Deanne Eisenman

Because my favorite type of quilt to design is a scrap quilt, I begin each project deciding how many different colors I want in the quilt. Then I go to my fabric stash and hunt (sometimes I have to shop). I like to have at least six to nine different colors in a quilt. I will fan out the fabrics I choose on my cutting table, stand back and look. If one fabric sticks out like a sore thumb, I remove it and substitute another. I continue this process until the fabrics blend together the way I want. Be sure to read my blog post, "How to Build a Scrap Quilt.”
