AWAY FROM HOME WITH / SIMONE AND TIM ANDERSON
Simone and Tim Anderson dreamed of a riverside escape, where along with their young son, they could experience the freedom and tranquillity of the camping days Simone experienced in her youth. When a rundown houseboat came on the market, it seemed like the ideal solution. This labour of love brought many people together as new friendships were forged during the extensive renovation process. The result is a breathtaking, floating holiday-home, that can be used to explore the river landscape, bringing people together and providing a sanctuary for Simone, Tim and their family.
PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOUR SELVES…
We have an eight-year-old son, Zac. I am 45 and Tim is 42.
We lead a busy life between friends, family and our business and wanted a place that we could share with people during the day and then have some quiet time with Zac at night.
PLEASE TELL US ALITTLE ABOUT THE PROJECT AND HOW IT CAME ABOUT…
We purchased the houseboat named Oarsome in June 2016. We originally thought it would take around six months to renovate, however we were very wrong.
The day we moved it from its original mooring site to a dry dock (on land), the old motor and paddle wheel lasted about half an hour before over-heating and it had to be towed by a ski boat
