From a young age I was fascinated by frogs, immortalised in fictional characters like Kermit and the Frog Prince. Between the ages of seven and 14, while living in southwestern Sydney, I kept frogs and studied them, reading anything about frogs that I could understand at such a young age.
I scouted for frogs at every opportunity, hoping to find a species I hadn’t seen before — like the striking red-crowned toadlet, seen only in Sydney’s sandstone area, or the beautiful green and golden bell frog which, despite its now-vulnerable status, seemed to revel in the wetlands near
