I am an A-Type personality who ran on roads for a long time. This was excellent for my head (except for the road rage part), for my waistline, and for my advanced goal-setting disorder, but road running is hard work.

It is characterised by all the things I associate with work and is governed relentlessly by the clock. It is not about Joy, or recharging one’s batteries. It is not about dancing and singing and has no resemblance to the very necessary requirement of playing. It is not ever about the journey, it is utterly goal orientated and destination driven.
