MATERIALS
• 38cm (15in) square of tan wool felt (hen’s body)
• 13cm (5in) square of butter yellow wool felt (hen’s beak and chick’s body)
• 5 x 8cm (2 x 3in) rectangle of tomato red wool felt (hen’s comb)
• 2cm ( 3/4in) gold felt ball (chick’s head)
• Fat eighth light grey stripe linen (apron)
• Fat quarter floral print fabric (apron and bonnet)
• 8 x 15cm (3 x 6in) lightweight fusible interfacing (bonnet)
• Two 6mm ( 1/4in) black English glass doll eyes (hen)
• Two 3mm ( 1/8in) black English glass doll eyes (chick)
• Bamboo skewer (chick’s beak)
• Black craft paint
• 2m (2 1/4yd) of 2mm ( 1/10in) thick craft wire (hen’s legs)
• Upholstery thread such as Gütermann (attaching eyes)
• Pliers
• Craft glue
• Long doll needle
• Fibre fill
• Stuffing tool or chopstick
• Freezer paper for patterns
• 25mm (1in) bias tape maker
• Sewing machine
• General sewing supplies
Finished sizes: 35cm (14in) (hen); 7cm (2 3/4in) (chick)
Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. Simone recommends using very high quality wool or wool-blend felt as synthetic or poor quality felt will not withstand the narrow seam allowances, tight turning and firm stuffing in this project. Wool felt has no
