MATERIALS
• 60cm ( 5/8yd) solid black fabric (outer bag and strap)
• 50cm ( 1/2yd) solid silver fabric (appliqué, lining and internal pocket)
• 30 x 90cm (12 x 34in) foam interfacing (such as By Annie’s Soft and Stable Foam Interfacing) or fusible fleece (such as Pellon Thermolam 971F or Vilene H640)
• 80cm ( 7/8yd) medium-weight fusible interfacing (such as Pellon Shapeflex SF101 or Legacy Shapeflex L-SF101)
• 8 x 10cm (3 x 4in) firm fusible stabiliser (such as Pellon Peltex #71F or Legacy #71F)
• Fusible web
• One silver turn lock about 4 x 2cm (1 1/2 x 3/4in)
• Two rectangular rings, 2.5cm (1in) wide (strap)
• One 15cm (6in) black dress zipper (internal pocket)
• Decorative label (optional)
• Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Tailor’s awl and chalk pencil or fabric marker
• Sharp pointed scissors, a craft knife or punch – see Step 24
• Sewing machine with zipper foot
• Threads to match the bag fabrics
• General sewing supplies
Finished size:
18.5cm high x 23cm wide x 4cm deep (7 1/4 x 9in x 1 1/2in)
Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. Requirements are based on fabric and fusible interfacing 107cm (42in) wide. Use 1/2in seams throughout, unless otherwise stated. Instructions are given for using the printed Pattern Sheet in the magazine, but you can also download the digital patterns from www.homespun.net.au and print them out.
