The mysterious, menacing call that Greg Mulvihill received one night last fall was impossible to ignore. Just 10 weeks earlier the Carlsbad, Calif., dad, who’d fought for months for shared custody of his baby son Kale, had finally signed a financial agreement with soon-to-be ex-wife Diana Lovejoy. Now, here was a man with a deep voice claiming to be a “criminal investigator” in possession of incriminating documents that Mulvihill would find taped to a utility pole on a nearby hiking trail. Alarmed and suspicious, he called the Carlsbad police and asked a dispatcher if he should go.
